B. Answer … (For full question, refer to the book.)

1. Why did … (For full question, refer to the book.)

Ans. Daddy wanted to be nightwatchman because he would be able to make a noise when everyone was sleeping.

2. What was Daddy’d … (For full question, refer to the book.)

Ans. Daddy thought that as an ice-cream seller he would eat a stick of ice-cream for everyone he sold, and he would also treat little children to free ice-cream.

3. What efforts … (For full question, refer to the book.)

Ans. Daddy put in great efforts to be a dog. He ran around on all fours all day, barking at strangers. He even tried to bite an elderly lady when she tried to pat his head. He also learnt how to bark very well. To learn how to scratch behind his ears with his foot, he also sat next to Rover.

4. Why was Daddy … (For full question, refer to the book.)

Ans. After meeting the officer, Daddy realised that he had been changing his mind every day. He also realised that he was too small to know what he wanted to be. Hence, he felt ashamed.

5. Why did Daddy … (For full question, refer to the book.)

Ans. Finally, Daddy decided to be a good human being when he grew up.

II HOTS

Why do little … (For full question, refer to the book.)

Ans. Little children keep changing their mind frequently due to their lack of experience. As little kids, they have little experience of the world and its affairs. Consequently, they get attracted towards whatever new and fancy they see.

III Life Skills

A. Discuss with … (For full question, refer to the book.)

Ans. The right age to decide what one wishes to be after growing up is 14-15 years, the age by which one reaches class 10. This is so because after 10th, one has to opt for any one stream of studies – science, arts or commerce. If one makes up one’s mind by this age about one’s future calling, it gets easier to achieve one’s goal.

The biggest advantage of making an early decision is that it enables the aspirant to put in efforts only in the desired direction. There is no wastage of efforts.

B. Is it practically … (For full question, refer to the book.)

Ans. Barring a few versatile individuals, for others it is neither practically possible nor desirable to practise two-three professions simultaneously. Instead of diffusing the efforts in two-three professions, if all the efforts are put in one particular direction, better results can be obtained.

IV Values

‘First of all … (For full question, refer to the book.)

Ans. The traits of a good human being are such virtues as honesty, truthfulness, selflessness, kindness, compassion, and the sense of cooperation and sacrifice. All these make a man a complete human being.

V Writing Skills

After meeting the officer … (For full question, refer to the book.)

Ans.

7th November 2020

10:30 p.m.

Dear Diary

A chance meeting with an officer has changed me completely. Earlier, I would change my plan of future calling every other day. The officer’s remark made me realise that it was foolish to do so. I have also realised that I am too small right now to know what I want to be after growing up. I have made a resolution that, first of all, I will try to become a good human being.

Whatever work I do after growing up, I must be a good human being first.

Till we meet again…

Daddy
